Cherry's Cafe

We had a chance to try Cherry's Cafe on Cooper Street today. It was close to 11 am when we arrived and there were plenty of open tables available. We were greeted warmly and invited to seat ourselves. We noticed that they had a salad bar, which is a rarity in Jackson. That is always a welcome sight!
My wife and daughter decided to get breakfast, while I decided on lunch. Calli (my daughter) finally decided on scrambled eggs, hash and toast. Bobbi (my wife) went with an omelet with bacon, cheese and mushrooms, toast and hash. My choice was chicken and gravy over biscuits and one item from the salad bar. I picked out some bread pudding.
Calli enjoyed every bit of her breakfast, especially the eggs, as she is a real egg hound! Bobbi was a little iffy about her omelet, as it had canned mushrooms and processed cheese instead of cheddar, but the bacon was nice and crispy. She was very happy with the hash, as it seemed homemade and very good!
My chicken and biscuits were really tasty. The biscuits were above average and the gravy was yummy enough that I used an extra piece of toast to sop up any leftovers. The bread pudding was quite good, even though it was cold, not warm like I would normally expect.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and the service was fast. The cafe itself was clean, bright and roomy with a nice positive atmosphere.
As we paid our bill, we noticed a cooler full of delicious looking pies that we may have to sample during our next visit....and we will be visiting again!
